If you live between Solana Road and Palm Valley Bridge, the map of your Friday night has quietly redrawn itself this year. Three separate operators picked three separate addresses along the same two-mile ribbon of A1A and North Roscoe Boulevard, and each one is stepping into a space that had been dark, tired, or waiting on a design review for a long time.
That is the story worth telling this summer. Not that Ponte Vedra Beach is "getting more restaurants," which is what every roundup says. The specific story is that a corridor that had been thinning out is filling back in all at once, and the live-music calendar has finally settled into a weekly rhythm to match.
880 A1A North: The Ponte Vedra Pointe Slot Finally Reopened
The old Mezcal Cantina space in Ponte Vedra Pointe Shopping Center sat in transition for a while. Mezcal Cantina announced its closure in October 2023 and relocated as the ninth Anejo Cocina Mexicana at The Fountains at St. Johns the following month. The address is now Black Pearl, an Itameshi concept blending Japanese and Italian cuisines.
Black Pearl, a restaurant concept combining Japanese and Italian cuisines, planned a soft opening Jan. 21 in Ponte Vedra Beach. The address is 880 Florida A1A N., No. 18B, in Ponte Vedra Beach. The restaurant plans to seat 96 with a separate lounge for private parties accommodating 25.
A few things worth knowing before you make a reservation:
- Black Pearl is launching in phases, with an elegant main dining room and an omakase counter debuting first, followed by the unveiling of a hidden Japanese speakeasy later in the month.
- Chef-owner Kelvin Ole said Black Pearl's menu will rotate quarterly.
- A draft menu shows rigatoni made with edamame, buffalo ricotta and provolone cheese; skirt steak with shiso chimichurri and blistered shishitos; and black pearl risotto with cuttlefish ink, scallops, prawn and Parmigiano Reggiano.
If you have not tried Itameshi before, this is your neighborhood tutorial. According to Grub Street, blending Italian and Japanese is known as Itameshi cuisine, a combination of Italian and "mesh," which is Japanese slang for "meal."
830 A1A North: A Bakery Aimed At The School Drop-Off
Two doors down, a very different concept is coming in. Le Petit Paris, the Mandarin-born French cafe that Alex Chezaud opened in 2019, is adding a Ponte Vedra Beach location as its sixth shop.
Chezaud is preparing to open the new Ponte Vedra Beach location at 830 Florida A1A N., after launching a shop in San Pablo in 2025 and Le Petit Atelier in Atlantic Beach in 2026. The interesting detail for anyone with kids in the car pool line is the hours. Chezaud said the restaurant may open at 7 a.m. to cater to families dropping off children at the nearby Bolles School Ponte Vedra.
That is a small design decision that says a lot about who is expected to walk in the door. A 7 a.m. bakery on A1A is not aimed at tourists coming off the beach. It is aimed at parents who already live here and want a croissant on the way to Roscoe Boulevard.

301 North Roscoe: The Old Lulu's Site Is Finally Moving
The single biggest visual change on the corridor this year is happening on the Intracoastal side. If you have driven past 301 North Roscoe over the last five years and wondered when someone would do something with the vacant Lulu's Waterfront Grille building, the answer is now.
County officials approved the demolition of the existing structure, clearing the way for redevelopment of the long-vacant Lulu's restaurant, which closed in 2021. St. Johns County issued a permit Jan. 20 for the side-by-side projects at 301 N. Roscoe Blvd. along the Intracoastal Waterway at a project cost of $3.14 million.
What is going in is not a simple restaurant. It is a public dining room next to a private club, sharing a building and a waterfront.
True Story Brands, in partnership with Shark Tooth Dining, LLC, announced plans to introduce the acclaimed Yebo Beach Haus and Lions Head Private Members Club at 301 North Roscoe Boulevard.
The public half is Yebo Beach Haus, imported from Atlanta. Yebo Beach Haus, which debuted in Atlanta in 2012, has earned a loyal following for its sophistication, energy and quality, with a menu highlighting New American cuisine, anchored by expertly prepared sushi, seafood and prime steaks, and elevated with globally inspired flavors reminiscent of Cape Town and South Africa's wine country.
The private half is Lions Head. The release describes the Lions Head Private Members Club as a dining club offering "an elegant, discreet and intentionally curated experience." Dues were not disclosed.
Scale matters here, because 301 Roscoe is not a small footprint. Site plans show a 10,279-square-foot building with 66 parking spaces. Plans previously submitted to the county indicate the restaurant will seat approximately 207 guests indoors and outdoors and include 69 parking spaces. For reference, that is more than twice the seat count Black Pearl is planning at Ponte Vedra Pointe.
One more piece of context, because the property has been talked about for years. The announcement follows earlier reporting that Shark Tooth Dining LLC, helmed by oil executive Alex Cranberg, purchased the property in 2024 for $4.1 million. Cronk Duch Architecture along with Wolf Design Group will lead the design process, with construction expected to begin in early 2026.
Three Rooms, One Corridor, Different Reasons

You do not get three simultaneous corridor infills like this without a shift in operator confidence about what the daily traffic here actually supports. And none of the three is targeting the same table.
The July Calendar Splits Between Two Venues

The Sharkey's cadence is worth calling out because it is easy to underuse. Sawgrass Marriott has Live Music at Sharkey's on Jun 19, Jun 26, Jul 3, Jul 10, Jul 17, Jul 24, Jul 31, and Aug 7, 2026. That is every Friday for two straight months, which turns the resort bar into something closer to a neighborhood standing reservation than a hotel amenity.

The Concert Hall has also been leaning further into partnership programming this year, which is worth watching if you want to see where the calendar is going. Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with THE PLAYERS Championship, announced the debut of the Sounds of Sawgrass concert series featuring performances by Tracy Lawrence on Thursday, March 12 and Robert Earl Keen on Saturday, March 14. Fans can enjoy a full tournament-week day of golf at TPC Sawgrass followed by live music in the evening.
