For a long stretch it sat at the Beaches Town Center, then it drifted north to Third Street, then out to the pier on Friday nights. Summer 2026 has quietly relocated it again, and this time the pin drops about four blocks off the sand.
Jarboe Park is doing more work this summer than it has in years. A new grocery anchor on Atlantic Boulevard has changed the shape of a routine Saturday morning, the park's own calendar has thickened, and the Beaches Town Center events that used to feel like the whole story now read as bookends around a busier middle. Here is what actually changed, and how residents are putting the pieces together.
The Atlantic Boulevard swap changed your Saturday radius
The most concrete change on the north side of town is the grocery anchor at 1209 Atlantic Boulevard. Aldi set a March 12 opening date for its store in Neptune Beach, one of nearly 80 former Southeastern Grocers locations the Germany-based grocer plans to convert to its brand in 2026, with the ribbon cutting at 1209 Atlantic Blvd. in a space that previously housed a Winn-Dixie. If you have lived here any length of time, that address is muscle memory, and the store that lived in it for decades is now something structurally different.
The practical effect on a summer Saturday is smaller than the headline suggests but real. Aldi has called it its first store opening in Neptune Beach, and the company operates about 300 locations in Florida, including at least 22 in Northeast Florida. A leaner grocery run at the front end of your morning frees up the hour that used to disappear inside a full-service supermarket, and a lot of residents have been quietly spending that reclaimed hour four blocks south, at the park.
Jarboe Park is the actual town square now
The center of summer, if you are tracking where residents keep bumping into each other, is Jarboe. It has always been a good park. What has shifted is how many discrete reasons there are to be there in a given week.
The amenity list, according to the city, is doing quiet work in the background of every one of these gatherings:
- Two playgrounds, eight pickleball courts, two tennis courts, and a walking trail surrounding a small lake, plus The Neptune House, a multi-purpose community building available to rent for parties of up to 100.

Eight pickleball courts is the detail most out-of-towners miss and most locals under-use. If your Saturday plan is dying on the vine by 9 a.m., that is where it wants to go.
Saturday at 2 p.m. is not a suggestion
The single most reliable social hour in Neptune Beach this summer is Saturday afternoon at the park. The community garden and farmers market run at Jarboe on Saturday at 2 p.m., and the Beaches Green Market has become the closest thing the town has to a standing appointment.
The market is small on purpose. A visitor's write-up captures the scale honestly: it is a much smaller, more intimate setting than a big regional market, with roughly 15 vendors on a slower winter day and more when produce is in season through the summer. You go to see the same growers, pick up the same bread, and run into the same neighbors, which is a different transaction than a supermarket even after the supermarket changes signs.
If you have not gone in a while, the summer window through August is when the produce tables actually fill in. The music tends to fill in with them. On June 13, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jarboe Park, 510 Florida Blvd., Community First Credit Union and the City of Neptune Beach hosted the Jarboe Jubilee, a community event celebrating the 250th anniversary of America.
Two things worth knowing about this one. First, it is new. The event was billed as the First Annual Jarboe June Jubilee, which means the city is testing whether a June morning at the park can do the work a Fourth of July fireworks show does elsewhere. Second, the programming was aimed squarely at families who already live here. The patriotic festival featured entertainment, food, games, a petting zoo, local vendors, and more, staged as a celebration of America's 250th. If it comes back in 2027, treat it as a fixed date on the summer calendar, not a nice-to-have.
The Town Center still does its job. It's just not the whole day.
None of this is to say Beaches Town Center has faded. The two anchor events on either side of Jarboe Jubilee still frame the front end of summer. Dancin' in the Street 2026 ran on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. onwards along Atlantic Boulevard, and the North Beaches Art Walk landed on Thursday, May 21 from 5 p.m. onwards at Beaches Town Center where Atlantic Boulevard meets the ocean. The restaurant list around the Town Center is the piece that has stayed most stable through the shifts up and down Atlantic.
